The position

What does a student representative do?

Linnaeus Union appoints student representatives with a mandate to represent their fellow students when the university makes decisions that “matter to the education or the students' situation”. It is an important assignment, crucial for the quality of education – and you influence your own education, build a network and strengthen your CV along the way. The position is also paid.

Who can become a student representative?

Any student at Linnaeus University. Some student representatives are ordinary programme students, others are PhD students, and many get involved through their programme association.

How to apply

From application to appointment

  1. Find the right body

First check whether your programme has a programme council, or whether representatives are needed in the Syllabus Committee or the Education Council. The faculty lists below show how many seats there are and who has been appointed.

  2. Fill in the application

The application is passed on to the union board, which appoints the student representatives. Once the board has made its decision, the union lets you know the outcome of your application. Your convener then contacts you with more information about your role.

  3. Get support in the role

The student representative handbook and our online training sessions go through routines and common questions. You can always turn to the union, and your convener also supports you in your role as a student representative.
