Influence & student cases

Problems with your education?

First turn to the examiner or course coordinator, and get help from the education officer in your programme association. Then there's us: the education officers for general course problems, and the student and PhD ombudspersons if you feel you have been treated unfairly or are unsure what applies. Good to know about your rights

  • The schedule must be available at least one month before the course starts, including regular examination dates.
  • The syllabus is legally binding – objectives, content and forms of examination must be followed.
  • Compulsory elements must appear in both the syllabus and the schedule, and be used sparingly.
  • Education is free of charge – extra costs for field trips or materials must be stated in the syllabus.
  • Offensive treatment, discrimination and harassment must be reported – the ombudspersons help you.

Who does what?

  • The education officers – quality of education

Concerns about the teaching, how courses are run, progression in a programme, or poor routines and systems? If it is a general quality problem affecting many students – contact the education officer in your city, and we will work to change it once and for all.

  • The ombudspersons – individual student cases

Treated badly by a teacher or staff, unsure which rules apply, need advice, help taking a complaint further or support in a disciplinary case? The ombudspersons answer questions about rights and obligations and help in cases concerning examination, schedules, treatment, cheating and plagiarism, discrimination and harassment.

The ombudspersons work under confidentiality. You can contact them anonymously, and they only take a case further with your consent.

Who do you want to contact?

For you who work at Linnaeus University or are a student

Has there been a near miss or an accident involving a student? Contact the union's student safety representatives at sso@linnek.se. The student safety representatives represent students in work environment matters and need to know about near misses to monitor the students' work environment and follow up that action is taken. Both students and those of you who work at Linnaeus University can contact the SSO.
