The union year follows the same rhythm every academic year. Here are the fixed points you can count on – exact dates and tickets are released continuously in Hitract.
Start of term
The semester opens with the introduction weeks: the programme associations, ESN and the union take care of you as a newcomer – the weeks when new students find their people.
At the start of term
Companies, associations and public agencies on the same floor – around 3,000–5,000 students usually come. Växjö every semester, Kalmar in the autumn.
Mid-semester
Pub nights at association-run student pubs like Slottsstallarna and Sivans, fika with the union, breakfast for members before the CSN payment lands, grilled Linnékåv for the hungry, and the big formal dinners of the semester when studying needs a break.
Every spring
The members' meeting is the union's highest decision-making body. In spring, next year's union board is elected – vote for your candidates, or run yourself. And we celebrate Valborg together.
End of term
The union houses switch to study mode, and when the last exam is handed in we celebrate the holidays together.
The student pubs
The student pubs are run on a non-profit basis by the associations themselves – union membership is the key in.
A student pub run as a non-profit association, mostly open Thursdays and Fridays.
A student pub mostly open Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The association that runs the union house in Kalmar – open to union members.
The student pubs are a member perk – have your membership card in Hitract ready along with your ID.
Good to have
The introduction, student ID, housing, health, insurance and the Facebook groups – everything you usually wonder about.
